With summer around the corner, it’s time to remove those woolly jumpers and layers and prepare body and mind for the sunshine and warm days outside.

Prep the skin

Remove the dead cells from the long winter cover up by gentle exfoliating treatments to leave your skin smoother and ready to be exposed to fresh air.

Top up your store of sun creams

It’s important to always use a cream to prevent the harmful effects of the sun, the summer brings brighter sunlight and therefore additional coatings of cream. Make sure you have plenty.

Hydrate

It’s especially easy to get dehydrated during the warm summer months. Carry a bottle of water and aim to drink about 4 litres a day. This will ensure hydration, and keep your skin and digestive system healthy. Water makes up 60% of the human body. It’s important to keep hydration levels healthy Stay hydrated!

Be in the moment

Take advantage of the warm summer months and unplug your devices. Work phone calls and emails may seem essential, but summer is when we should allow our minds and bodies to relax more than usual. The blue-light behind mobile devices and laptops are bad for the eyes and hinder our ability to enjoy the outdoors during the summer. Even if it’s only for an hour a day, unplug and relax.

Choose healthy calories

Eat the colours of the rainbow and choose fresh fruit and vegetables. Maintain a trim figure by saving calories through healthy eating choices. Order dressing on the side and choose meals that are protein packed. And when snacking choose foods that are filling, not just satisfying. 

Outdoor activity

Take advantage of the warm weather by exercising outside. It’s a great opportunity to receive your daily dose of vitamin D. Studies show it’s great for mental health. Whether it’s going for a jog or walk, a bike ride, or running in the park, there is plenty of opportunity to get active outside in the warmth.

Healthy alcohol twists

Put a healthy twist on alcoholic drinks. Who doesn’t love a refreshing cocktail on a warm summer’s night? Watch out for sugary choices hidden in Pimms. Try swapping alcohol with a low-sugar non-alcoholic blends and garnish with sparkling water.  Choose real fruit juice such as grapefruit, mint, or cucumber. And drink a glass of water between alcoholic drinks to stay hydrated.
