Time For A Nap?

You don’t have to wait until bedtime to sleep. The sneaky daytime, and for some, workday nap should not be guilt-ridden. This habit has been a lifestyle for many – think of those siestas embedded in the cultures of Mediterranean countries.

Many of us don’t get enough sleep – stress, babies crying, noise pollution, the list could go on. Napping can leave you refreshed as well as more productive, overpowering the yawning syndrome. It was the industrial revolution that introduced the idea of sleeping only when the days work was done. Thinking about it – its abnormal, unnatural!

Naps should be  around 20 minutes, no more, otherwise it can result in grogginess.  Sleep happens in 90 minute cycles so if you enter the deep sleep phase, waking will leave you bleary-eyed. It is understood that Salvador Dali fell asleep holding a key above a plate and when it dropped it meant he was relaxed enough so it woke him,

And if WFH is changing to office commutes, try scheduling naps on the days you are at home. Don’t be a daytime sleep shamer!
